Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is the ability to evaluate facts so that you can fully understand a topic or issue and develop an effective solution. Creative thinking is dependent on objectivity because it allows you to analyze a problem without allowing assumptions, emotions or biases to influence your judgement. Basic computer skills are important because information literacy often involves determining the validity of the information you find on websites and crediting online sources. The software skills necessary for information literacy allow you to use applications efficiently and effectively.

Information Technology Jobs: What Skills Do You Need?

Information technology has a median annual wage of $88,240, which is more than the median annual wage for all occupations. There are many job titles in the information technology sector. There are many levels of expertise and a variety of areas of interest in the roles for people with a variety of areas of interest.

When applying for jobs, highlight your skills that are the closest match to the IT skills listed in the job posting on your resume. You can show the hiring manager that you have the qualifications the employer is looking for. Knowledge about networking is something that will be required of most IT professionals.

Knowledge networking is an extension of good communication skills, as it requires gathering groups of people in a working environment to share what they know, in order to build a system of knowledge within an organization that is more than the sum of its parts. IT professionals need to be self-directed and self-motivated, and have an ability to manage projects well. Technology work can take longer than anticipated, as shown by how often timelines and milestones change over the course of a long project.

Think Critically in Media Literacy

Think critically. Kids evaluate media by looking at the messages, the information, and the key ideas. They learn to use examples to support their opinions.

They can make their own decisions based on what they know. Become a smart consumer. Kids learn how to determine if something is credible with media literacy.

It helps them determine the intent of advertising and resist the techniques marketers use to sell products. Media should be created in a responsible way. Understanding that your messages have an impact is a key to effective communication.

Understand the author's goal. What is the author's goal for the piece of media? Is it just information, or is it trying to change your mind and discover new things?

Kids can make informed choices when they understand what influence something has. It's not important for parents to tell kids if something is right when teaching media literacy. The process is more of an exchange of ideas.

Social Skills

A skill is the ability to perform an action with determination and good results often within a given amount of time, energy and/or both. Skills can be divided into two categories. Some general skills would include time management, teamwork and leadership, self-motivation and others, whereas domain-specific skills would only be used for a certain job.

The level of skill being shown and used is usually assessed by certain stimuli. A skill may be called an art if it represents a body of knowledge or branch of learning, like the art of medicine or the art of war. The arts are also skills, but there are many skills that are not connected to the fine arts.

A practice is when the learned skill is put to use. An art or skill can be used to start a profession, trade or craft. Social skill is any skill that facilitates interaction with others.

Information Management

Information management is concerned with the infrastructure used to collect, manage, preserve, store and deliver information. The guiding principles allow for the availability of information to the right people. Information must be made available.

Sharing information helps the use and exploitation of corporate knowledge, even though not all information is open to anyone. Information is managed and retained by the organization. Retention and archive of information are what it is.
