What Is Information Goods?
The Economics of Goods
A good is an "economic good" if it is useful to people but not so useful that human effort is required to get it. Air is free and can be obtained without any effort. Private goods are things that are owned by people and used on a daily basis that are not related to food.
A consumer good is any item that is consumed rather than used in the production of another good. A microwave oven that is sold to a consumer is a final good, but the components that are sold to be used in the product are intermediate goods. Textile or transistors can be used to make more goods.
Commercial goods are defined as tangible products that are manufactured and then made available for supply to be used in an industry of commerce. Commercial goods could include vehicles, airplanes, and even roofing materials. Commercial and personal goods are very broad and cover almost everything a person sees from the time they wake up in their home to their arrival at the workplace.
Information is an intangible form of common goods. An apple is a tangible object, while news is an intangible class of goods, and can only be seen by means of a print or television. In economics, a bad is a bad, and a good is a good, but not all goods are good to all people.
Customs Duty Exemption
Customs Duty is a tax imposed on goods when they are transported across international borders. Customs Duty is to protect the economy, residents, jobs, environment, and other things by controlling the flow of goods into and out of the country. The amount declared is subject to a flat 4% rate of duty and any applicable IRS taxes, if they exceed the exemption.
Diamonds from the Ukraine are subject to the 100 percent duty and can easily exceed the exemption amount, which is why most of the products listed are not the type of goods travelers would purchase in sufficient quantities to exceed their exemption. Personal effects, such as clothing, jewelry, photography equipment, portable radios, and vehicles, are not allowed to be brought in duty-free. Personal effects are usually not subject to duty if they are more than one year old.
Communication Skills in Information Technology
Information technology is the application of technology to solve business organizational problems on a broad scale. A member of the IT department works with others to solve technology problems, no matter what role they are in. Strong communication skills are important for IT work. Information technology professionals need to have a level of empathy that will allow them to see exactly what a client is dealing with and calmly help them achieve their goal or solve a problem.
