Identifying Content in ICNs
There is a need for growth in technology with a growing society. The demand for mobile data traffic is growing so fast that it will soon surpass what can be supplied with the traditional host-centered architecture. The forecast by the CiscoVisual Networking Index predicts that by the year 2020, mobile and wireless devices will account for 71 percent of the total traffic, which will lead to a sevenfold increase in mobile data traffic globally.
Video traffic is growing at a faster rate than mobile data traffic. By 2020, the percentage of all traffic that is video will be four times higher than it is now. The data objects are routed through the naming scheme.
In a network where content is requested based on names, the content will need to be easily reachable. Humans need to be able to read the name of the content they are reading. The naming scheme should give a name that is readable to a human and also give a description of what the contents are.
A naming scheme needs to be able to scale. The move from a host-centered network to a receiver-driven one is due to the fact that there are more mobile data traffic. Staying with the CDN might be the better option if the naming scheme is not easy to use.
The primary parameters of readability are name resolution and name quality. Content should be identified by its name. The name that is mapped to the data object might be different depending on the naming scheme.
CI Usage in the Internet Architecture
The current Internet architecture was designed to allow for communication between hosts. A user has to specify a host in order to get information. There is a drastic increase in the distribution of information over the internet.
Internet traffic can be variable, from multimedia traffic to real-time streaming. The Internet architecture could not adapt to the changes. The NDN message flows are shown in Figure 2.
The table includes entries on the InterEST packet when it is forwarded from the client to the source. One request in the NDN process will generate one response. Figure 7 shows the flows of converge CI Us.
The interest CIU is sent from the client to the data source. The Interest CIU is forwarded based on information FIB. FIB can consult with RIB if it can't find a forwarding entry.
